My Ideal

A Motion Writer

It might sound weird, but that's my ideal. I have always been gifted with a natural appeal for words and literature, whereas I found that there is a form of art that interests me the most; paintings, or motion graphic. Combining the two point of interests are the bottom lines of my desire, thus, I want to be a motion writer, or in a more common term; I want to be a scriptwriter.

I realize that becoming a scriptwriter might not as easy as it looks like. Unlike writing poems or proses, where the writer would have the most liberated exploration to express their visions in words, scriptwriting takes that thrill and elevates it in a different level of challenge. In scriptwriting, tthe writer's vision in words then needs to be conveyed in a stream of motion and pictures which, in the end, would form a unity called film, or motion graphic. Hence the name 'motion writer' I gave it upon.

In my humble opinion, in writing scripts or scenarios, one needs to have a considerably high level of awareness. Not every visual image is able to be transformed well into words, vice versa. However, a scriptwriter should have the ability to manage both challenges adeptly.

Furthermore, in film-making, it always intrigues me to playfully use the analogy of God and his prophet when it comes to describe the task of the scriptwriter and the director. I see the scriptwriter as the God of the film, while director is its prophet. It is true that the director holds full control in the direction of the visual concept of the film, but he or she also needs to ascertain the whole flow from the guideline, in this case is the script or scenario, made by the scriptwriter. You can be aware of this fact when you hear the director tells his or her crews and actors “Please make sure it sticks to the script.” or “Have you read the script, really?” and so forth. This is where we can see that scriptwriting holds the main guideline in film-making.

All those things above sound like a challenge and thrill for me. Of course, I know that it might not as easy as it really sounds, and I am fully aware that even the most simple dream needs the most sincere effort. Being a scriptwriter is not merely a simple dream for me, it has became my biggest passion and it is exactly why I am focusing my most sincere efforts in achieving my dream now.
